Yves de Ruyter

Yves de Ruyter

Yves Deruyter is one of the few Belgian DJ’s / producers who are successful in both professions. Next year he will be celebrating his 20 year anniversary as an artist. In the earlier and harder period of Bonzai Music he scored smashing hits like Rave City, Calling Earth en Outsiders. Followed by successes as The Rebel, Back To Earth en Music Non Stop. The last couple of years his sound evolved from techno to (hard)trance. Yves has seen it all, done it all, but he still is expanding and developing his sound to the max.

Producing
Yves is well known for his productions and is signed to Bonzai Records for many years now. His first single ‘Animals’ became a big club hit in Belgium. With his second single he made a big jump into the German market. ‘Rave City’ became a big success and sold over 50.000 copies. The follow up ‘Calling Earth’ was again a success with 70.000 sold singles. ‘A Story About House’ didn't really break anything, nevertheless his follow up single ‘The Rebel’ was immediately signed for the world. ‘The Rebel’ was a top tune and the big international breakthrough for Yves Deruyter. This single was also the announcement for this first album ‘D-Album’ containing all the singles from past and future. The single ‘Rhythmic Bass’ was taken of the album ‘2001’ as well as ‘Back to Earth’. So far Yves made 4 Cherrymoon Trax singles of which the last single ‘In My Electric House’ was again successful in Germany. All this in combination with the first 3D black and white video made by Frank Dewulf who became an important artist with his B-Sides releases.

Born Slippy
Actually, Yves only wanted to produce some catchy exclusives to play during his own sets in 2004. This resulted however in the monster cover of Underworld’s classic ‘Born Slippy’. Since the first time the record was played (during the radio show of Armin van Buuren) a hype raised in DJ land. At the beginning of the summer of 2004 a limited amount of CDRs was spread among some of the best national and international DJ’s. The reactions were overwhelming on which Yves decided to release the cover on vinyl, through the label Bonzai Music of Banshee Worx. He now almost finished the video clip to accompany the hit record.

Gigging
Yves Deruyter played in famous Belgian clubs such as: Globe, Barocci, Cherrymoon, Illusion, Extreme, Bel-Air, Carat, and Maxx. Once a month (on Friday) he plays at Fuse (Mad Club, Belgium). In the meanwhile, he played at big raves such as May Day, Love Parade, Energy, Nature One, Trance Energy, Inner City, Mystery land, Qontact, Frequence, Inside Out, Passion, Godskitchen, The Gallery, Slinky, Frisky, Gatecrasher, I love Techno, Axion Beach Rock, Antwerp Is Burning, Clubland and so many more.

Future
Yves Deruyter's vision of his future in music is and will always be the same: making music for the people. For him it is important the people have fun while they're listening /dancing to his music. In the past he used to work with Frederico Santini, but now his counterpart is Dirk "M.I.K.E." Dierickx (Push, The Blackmaster, M.I.KE., Moon Project) and Laurent (L-VEE, Airwave, Green Martian) who are currently the most important producers from Bonzai Records.
